Man Utd’s Rooney: It’s us and Chelsea for the title
Wayne Rooney believes that next season’s title race will again be between Manchester United and Chelsea.
The Red Devils notched an unprecedented 19th English title this season under pressure from the fast-finishing Blues and striker Rooney sees it as being a similar scenario next term.
“Chelsea will be our main rivals for the league next season,” he told talkSPORT. “They are so strong and powerful and ended the season so well.”
But the England international admitted that any one of five teams were capable of finishing alongside United in the top two.
“Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal will all be fighting for top four,” he added. “It makes it even more intense. It wouldn’t surprise you if any of those teams finished in the top two.
“The teams in the lower half have improved – going away from home was so difficult this season.”
